Life should be just one big adventure whether you’re in the African bush or roadtripping across the US of A. We hit New Orleans late in the evening and took a stroll down Bourbon St. and stuffed ourselves with fresh fish and sea food while watching drunk, partially drunk and preparing to get drunk people walk by. The streets were lined with strip clubs with scantily clad ladies grabbing your arm to pull ya inside. I just smiled and mentioned that unless they could shoot a ping-pong ball I wasn’t impressed. A girl’s gotta have standards right? It was like Bangkok without the bang…haha, ok I’m just gonna stop now while I’m ahead. I rolled out of bed early for a Sunday morning stroll through the French Quarter and chatted with artists setting up their wares and scouted out coffee shops and delicious looking brunch locations. Along my wandering path I stumbled across drunks passed out on the streets and street cleaners sweeping up the destruction that was Bourbon St in the morning. I walked along the street chatting with old men sipping their coffee and watching the scene, a poker player who had yet to go to bed, and a Haiti man leaning against the building looking as iconic as the old fashion sign above him. After tackling Texas in the night, we hit New Mexico and my home under the haze of a wildfire. Oh America America, it’s good to see ya again…some days you just need to take the long way home.

you have really nice pictures, do you practice as a photographer??
Thank you for the photo compliments and for checking out my work. Yes, I’ve been a photographer for a few years now, working sometimes for newspapers or, more recently, for development organizations in SE Asia and Africa.
